Demystifying the Home Buying Process

We partnered with Chase Home Lending to create a comprehensive series of 2D animated explainer videos focused on demystifying the home buying process. For many buyers, especially first-time homeowners, the language around mortgages, lending, and closing can feel opaque and intimidating. The goal of this series was to make those steps feel understandable, human, and approachable without dumbing anything down.

Spacejunk handled the work end to end, from scripting through illustration, motion design, and final animation. We worked closely with the Chase team to translate complex, jargon-heavy financial concepts into language that felt clear and useful for real people making high-stakes decisions. The scripts had to strike a careful balance between accuracy, regulatory requirements, and plainspoken clarity.

Visually, these pieces were among the first to bring Chase’s newly revamped illustration system to life in motion. Working in close collaboration with the Chase brand and design teams, we helped define how the new illustration standards should move, behave, and feel on screen. The style was intentionally warm, minimal, and human. Clean shapes, soft color palettes, subtle texture, and restrained motion were used to create an approachable tone that aligned with the seriousness of the subject matter without feeling cold or corporate.

The result was a cohesive series of animated explainers that not only educated home buyers, but also helped establish a motion language for Chase’s evolving brand system. The work became a foundational reference for how Chase’s illustration style could live in video, setting a standard for future animated content across the organization.
