Mixed media public health
For this :30 public service announcement, we partnered with agency Boyden & Youngblutt and the Fort Wayne | Allen County Department of Health to help bring a powerful, parent-focused message to life: protect your kids before they head out into the world.
The concept reframes everyday childhood moments as the early chapters of future hero stories: before they leave the nest, before they save the day, before they change the world. Visually, we leaned into a handcrafted, mixed-media style that blends live-action footage with playful, notebook-style illustration, stop-motion elements, and tactile real-world objects. Yarn becomes a bird’s nest. A Band-Aid becomes protection. A baseball becomes a dream in motion. It’s charming, a little unexpected, and visually unique.
Spacejunk handled everything beyond concept and script: design, illustration, compositing, animation, editing, and all post-production. The result is a warm, imaginative PSA that feels human and hopeful while delivering an important message about protecting kids from vaccine-preventable diseases like HPV, meningitis, tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis.
It’s a great example of how we use visual craft and storytelling to make serious topics feel accessible, relatable, and emotionally resonant.
