light in motion
Last year, we collaborated with our agency partners at Chernof Newman to create an award-winning animated broadcast spot for AES Ohio.
This year, they set us a new challenge: to bring the AES Energy light ribbon to life in the live-action world. Our team handled all aspects of production, from scripting to post-production, including extensive animation and compositing of our light ribbon. Pre-production involved screen tests, experimenting with camera movement, practical light levels, and the animation character of our light ribbon - all time well spent when applied to our shoot and post timeline.
On set, we plotted the light ribbon's path and built a practical light rig to introduce real blue and green light sweeps into the scene. In post, we were able to seamlessly integrate the light ribbon element and add another layer of complexity by bookending our spot with a new take on the 3D neighborhood from last year's work.
